Today we are going to be talking about your GPS towards your goals.
Not just setting your GPS once but setting it every single day.
Before we go into this, it’s extremely important that you know what you want in life.
Do you have a life plan? Do you have goals for 2017? Do you have goals for next month or even just for the next few weeks?
If you don’t then definitely listen up!
When you set your GPS in your car it needs to know two things: where you are and where you are going.
Now this is important because if you think about it, most people are aware of where they are and they are not happy about it. They want to be further along in their goals but they’re not sure exactly what their destination is.
It is extremely hard for your GPS to get you from where you are to where you want to go if you don’t even know where it is you are going in the first place.
So why is this so important? If you know your goals and you know what you’re trying to get out of the next month or the next year, it makes it easier to start making a plan.
Your GPS finds out where you are and where you want to go, and it makes a plan on how to get you there.
Will there be detours? Absolutely!
There are always unexpected things that are going to happen on that path but just because there may be an accident or construction, your GPS does not cancel the trip. It says let’s take a detour, we made a mistake on this path, let’s go a different route.
We are going to try to get you to your destination.
This is why you need to know where you are going and you need to make a life plan.
If you don’t have a plan for the next year or 2017, you need to get a pen and paper, quiet time and you need to write down your goals. Financial, family, relationship, travel, spiritual goals, whatever it may be.
It’s important to get your goals on paper.
In my group coaching sessions we talk about exactly what needs to be done for my clients to hit their goals in 2017.
You need to do the same. You need to figure out your goals for the next year.
You need to wake up every single morning and set your GPS towards your goals. Don’t just let your days happen.
Go into every day with intention.
Here is the problem; most people wake up and they are in reaction mode.
They go into work, they start doing things and they react to things as they are happening.
You don’t become successful or have a happy life by living in reaction mode all the time. You have to go in to every day with intention!
How often do you wake up in the morning and plan your day?
I am aware that 99% of people do not do this, they do not plan their day.
A key question you want to ask yourself every morning to help set your GPS is, “what do I need to do today to get me to my goal of _____?”
If you have a goal written down that you want to make $100,000 this year, what do you need to today to hit that goal. Write down your plan and figure it out.
Ask yourself this as well, “what is the most important thing for me to get done today?” If nothing else happens today, what needs to get done?
If you do nothing else other than that one thing, it can be considered a productive day!
Also think about this question: “Is what I am doing right now getting me closer to or further from my goals?”
If it’s pulling you further from your goals, stop doing it immediately.
Your GPS needs two pieces of information; where you are right now and where you are going. Everyone knows where they are right now, very few know where they are going.
How often do you wake up and go into every day with intention?
Try it out for 30 days. While you’re drinking your coffee take 5 minutes and plan your day.
Take a pen and paper, look at your goals and plan a day that will get you closer to your goals than you were when you woke up.
Wake up with intention for each day and conquer your day. Not the whole year, just today.
